This 20+-year-old home in New Albany was ready for an update, but the home’s unique architecture (that the clients loved) presented some challenges and they were never really certain what would be possible in their space. They wanted a more functional kitchen that felt more in line with the otherwise traditional, elegant style in their home.
Project Completed: 2024
The existing kitchen was stuck in the early 2000s. Despite the multitude of windows and high ceilings, the black countertops and chunky, two-tiered, dark wood island made the kitchen feel dim and dingy. This client was looking to create an update that felt bright & open and matched the grandeur of their home.
The cabinetry in the desk area, beverage bar and alongside the window wall were kept and modified to fit into the aesthetic of the new kitchen. Keeping these cabinets, which were in excellent condition, made it possible to devote more of the budget to other areas of the remodel and avoid the additional geometry required to layout more cabinets on the curved wall. To enhance the flow and functionality, the best solution was to relocate the range to the flat wall, allowing for ample counter space around it.
