These homeowners loved their Hilliard home for 25 years, but they knew if the wanted to continue to love it some major changes needed to happen. Their 1990’s built home was begging for a modern layout and appearance but they didn’t know where to start.

BEFORE

The existing first floor felt closed off, dated and disconnected from the way these homeowners wanted to live and entertain. The kitchen was cramped with limited storage, two separate dining areas divided the main floor, and the family room layout was centered around features the homeowners rarely used. After 25 years in their home, they were ready for a more open, functional layout with personalized design, better storage and thoughtful solutions for entertaining—all while creating a space that still felt at home with the character of the existing house.

Plans & renderings

From the beginning the plan was to take out the non-load bearing wall that divided the kitchen from the rest of the main floor. The formerly cramped kitchen was extended into the space that was previously occupied by one of two dining areas and is now open to the family room.
