Bathroom Remodel
After remodeling two other bathrooms in their Dublin home, these clients were finally ready to tackle their primary suite. Their existing bathroom was an early 90’s throwback a three-sided vanity with Hollywood-style vanity lights, a built-in jetted tub, and tiny shower. They wanted a more contemporary bathroom with a more functional flow.

BEFORE
These clients came to the project with the “clean slate” mind set. While they weren’t attached to the locations of anything within the bathroom, they knew the shape of the space would create limitations. Despite being open to design ideas, they didn’t want to make any significant structural changes, which meant the irregular hexagonal shape of their existing tub area, as well as several other angled walls within the bathroom all had to stay.
Plans & renderings
Maintaining the general shape of the bathroom left only one good option for layout. Removing the massive built-in tub area, including the large, tiled tub deck and steps provided ample space for the larger shower these clients wanted. To ensure privacy for the new shower, the three existing windows were removed entirely. Natural light still fills the space, thanks to the skylight, which had always been the primary source due to the dense tree coverage outside. The original vanity in this bathroom seemed spacious at first glance, but the storage was seriously lacking function, and the counter space was always covered in clutter. To create a design that perfectly suited the clients’ needs, a wall was added to soften the room’s angles and provide space for a longer, straight run of cabinets and countertop. Relocating the shower from the original design freed up space for an ample lined closet, and gave the current items a permanent home.
