These clients in German Village were looking to create a functional kitchen while paying homage to the home’s past.

BEFORE

This 1890’s built house had lived a long life, and it was painfully evident in the kitchen. It had obviously undergone several remodels in the past, but our clients were less than impressed. They wanted their new kitchen to feel as original to the home as possible without sacrificing modern amenities. As is common with older homes, the kitchen was severely lacking in square footage and our clients wanted to stay within the existing footprint. Before we started on this project, the refrigerator was blocking a window, there was a peninsula that contained the sink, range & dishwasher, and there was no prep space to speak of.

PLANs & rENDERINGS

The layout made it nearly impossible to cook in and had a lot of wasted space. Eliminating the peninsula allowed room for both a small island and a run of cabinets along the wall, more than double their counter space.
